EXCLUSIVE: THE X-FILES DIRECTOR KEVIN HOOKS AND 'DEMON JUDY' BREAK DOWN 'PLUS ONE'

SPOILER WARNING! This week's episode of The X-Files, "Plus One," discussed at length below.

Wait?! Did MSR (Mulder/Scully Romance) fans just see in "Plus One" what they've been hoping to see since the FBI agents lip-locked at the end of Season 8? Damn right they did, and all of that relationship goodness was mashed inside a classic-style X-File involving super creepy, Hangman-playing twins, Judy and Chuck. In case you didn't catch it, the tour de force performances of both "Little Judy" and cranky Chuck were both played by actress Karin Konoval. And surprise, this dual role is actually Konoval's third separate appearance on The X-Files. In 1995, she played Madame Zelma in ... [Continua a leggere]

X-Files star admits: ‘We didn’t do our best work’

DAVID Duchovny has made a rather frank admission about 2016’s long-awaited but ultimately disappointing return of the X-Files.

X-FILES fans can breathe a sigh of relief. David Duchovny says season 11 has redeemed itself from 2016’s fizzer. “I am much happier about doing these next 10 episodes than I was about the last six,” the sci fi star tells news.com.au, referring to season 10, which aired last year. “These shows are significantly better and we are all doing better work this time around,” he assures. “There are many reasons why we might not have done our best work last season probably due to the long layoff. I also think the season was too short to make an entire show.” ... [Continua a leggere]

The X-Files: "My Struggle III" (January 3, 2018)

The X-Files (1993 – 2002; 2016, 2018) has returned for Season 11, and I’m behind the eight-ball here reviewing the new season of ten episodes.    Hopefully, I will catch-up quickly. (Right now I’m two episodes back!)   We must begin our look at the new season with “My Struggle III,” the shocking resolution (of sorts) to the Season 10 cliffhanger. The third part of the “My Struggle” saga, written and directed by Chris Carter, aired in the U.S. on January 3rd, 2018, and has fiercely divided critics and audiences for two reasons. ... TCA 2018: 'The X-Files' Panel

As part of the TCA Winter sessions, FOX organized a studio day for the journalists involved in the traditional gathering for the press. This Q&A had been advertised to be with the attendance of David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Mitch Pileggi, and Chris Carter. Due to the current mudslide and storm situation in Montecito and Santa Barbara areas, Carter had to skip the event but producers Glen Morgan, Darin Morgan and Jim Wong stepped up to be part of the panel. After the presentation of the latest trailer of the new season, the different members of the press took turns to inquire about th ... [Continua a leggere]

Gillian Anderson on Her ‘X-Files’ Future: ‘I’m Finished and That’s the End of That’

Gillian Anderson has given a lot of thought to why she feels she is done with creating new episodes of “The X-Files,” and it boils down to the fact that when she embarked upon the revival of Chris Carter’s hit genre series back in 2015, it was never pitched to her as a full-fledged return to create a whole new, on-going version of the series. “I thought that the previous six was going to be it,” Anderson admitted during a panel for the second chapter of “The X-Files” revival at the Television Critics Assn’s winter press tour on Wednesday. &ldquo ... The X-Files script that was too bleak to air

Cult horror author Thomas Ligotti explains why his nihilistic take on the sci-fi series never made it to TV

Their search for truth has seen them do battle with vampires, zombies, aliens, and elasticated mutants hungry for human offal. But what would Mulder and Scully make of a case that brought them face-to-face with “the strange and awful truth” of existence? “Crampton”, an unproduced screenplay for The X-Files, offers a clue: co-written by cult horror author Thomas Ligotti in 1998, the script plunges our detective leads into a world of illusion, suggesting conspiracies of a different kind. If only the 2018 iteration of The X-Files were so ambitious. Las ... [Continua a leggere]

EXCLUSIVE: X-FILES WRITER GLEN MORGAN TELLS US ABOUT THE MAKING OF 'THIS'

SPOILER WARNING! The X-Files Season 11, Episode 2, "This" discussed at length below!

Long-time The X-Files writer, Glen Morgan, wrote and directed this week's episode, "This," which brought back (kind of) Lone Gunman Langly, and explored the afterlife via tech. In an exclusive sit down with SYFY WIRE, he explains what he was trying to do with the episode, lessons learned from Season 10, and the personal inspiration for this tale. After the huge ratings for Season 10, did you assume that would lead to moreThe X-Files stories? Glen Morgan: I didn't really think about it. I thought it would be done, so I was as surprised as anybody. In "This," you we ... [Continua a leggere]

‘The X-Files’ wanted Robert Patrick back as John Doggett for Season 11, but ‘scheduling issue’ got in the way

“I know we tried to get Robert Patrick a couple times,” confirmed “The X-Files” executive producer Glen Morgan at the Television Critics Association winter press tour about Fox’s current revival of the classic sci-fi series. However, Patrick’s day job on CBS’s “Scorpion” made him unavailable to shoot any new episodes for “The X-Files” Season 11. “We’ve tried, but it was just a scheduling issue,” Morgan said. Patrick’s John Doggett was cast in “The X-Files” Season 8 as way to fill the gap left ... [Continua a leggere]

Gillian Anderson Confirms She's Exiting Fox's 'The X-Files,' Starz's 'American Gods'

The actress told reporters Wednesday at a set visit as part of TCA that she's done with both dramas.

Gillian Anderson is finished with The X-Files, the actress confirmed Wednesday during a panel organized as part of the Television Critics Association's winter press tour. Anderson said that she originally intended to sign on for the six-episode revival in 2017. She also confirmed that she's walking away from Starz drama American Gods after showrunners Bryan Fuller and Michael Green quit the series.  "It's time for me to hang up Scully's hat. It just is," Anderson told reporters, ruling out any potential return in the future. "I'm finished, and that's the end of that." ... [Continua a leggere]

The X-Files writer Darin Morgan on the art of satirizing Mulder and Scully

Darin Morgan penned some of The X-Files‘ funniest, quirkiest hours, including ‘Clyde Bruckman’s Final Repose,’ the only episode to win an Emmy for writing. Here, he reflects on the art of satirizing Mulder and Scully. How did you persuade Chris Carter to let you go off in such idiosyncratic directions? The first one I wrote was [season 2’s] “Humbug,” and Chris just liked the story I pitched. He has always responded to my stuff — it’s more the fans who have a problem with the show’s change in tone. But I always felt one of ... [Continua a leggere]

The truth is in here: U.Md. scientist on the set of ‘The X-Files’

WASHINGTON — Sci-fi drama “The X-Files” launched its 11th season Wednesday night, and a local scientist spent 10 days on set watching the filming. Dr. Anne Simon, who leads the virology program at the University of Maryland, is a longtime science adviser for the series. For the show’s 10th season finale, creator Chris Carter had a big request for her: Figure out a plausible way to kill off almost every person. Simon delivered, suggesting the very real CRISPR-Cas9 system for genome editing. The premise of the episode was that people who got a smallpox vaccine when th ... [Continua a leggere]

‘The X-Files’ Without Gillian Anderson? Fox Boss Weighs in on Show’s Future

TCA 2018: “It seems as if those are the circumstances, there won’t be anymore X-Files”

Fox Co-Chairman and CEO Dana Walden weighed in on the future of “The X-Files,” suggesting that the supernatural drama could be done following its current season if Gillian Anderson leaves the show. “It seems as if those are the circumstances, there won’t be any more ‘X-Files,’ ” Walden said at the Television Critics Association press tour on Thursday, referencing Anderson’s desire to leave and creator Chris Carter’s assertion that he won’t do the show without her. Fox Bosses On The Future Of ‘The X-Files’ – TCA

Will Fox be opening up more X-Files? According to Fox Television Group chairman and CEO Gary Newman at TCA today, it’s still TBD. “You could’ve asked Chris (Carter), David (Duchovny) and Gillian (Anderson) at various times since the show originally premiered whether they would do more. Some days you’d get a ‘yes’, some days you’d get a ‘no.’ I would not exclude the possibility that there would be more. But not only is there no plan, there hasn’t been a single conversation. It’s too early to even sp ... [Continua a leggere]

David Duchovny And Gillian Anderson On Keeping ‘The X-Files’ Relevant In An Utterly Different World

On the latest episode of The X-Files, FBI Special Agents Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) and Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) attempt to unravel the latest mysteries presented by the series’ ongoing alien conspiracy mythology. And just in case you were wondering, yes it’s 2018 and not 1993. Chris Carter’s popular science fiction series first premiered on September 10th, 1993 and ran until May 19th, 2002, but it returned for a short six-episode revival in 2016, which went well enough to produce yet another round. Whether the 10th season was worth it became ... [Continua a leggere]

The X-Files: Chris Carter on the unscripted surprise that got in 'The Post-Modern Prometheus' episode

Paying homage to James Whale’s 1931 movie version of Frankenstein, “The Post-Modern Prometheus” tells the story of a mutant man with a giant head and a Cher obsession who bears a resemblance to a comic book monster called the Great Mutato. When the local townspeople turn on the gentle mutant, Mulder and Scully whisk him away . . . to the safety of a Cher concert. In a fantasy sequence ripped straight from the pages of a comic book, the mutant is pulled onstage to dance with Cher (or rather an actor playing the performer, who is seen only from the side and behind) as she sings ...
