On The X-Files Set: An Extended Interview With Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny

Last July, we traveled to the set of The X-Files to check out the revival first-hand and speak with stars David Duchovny (Fox Mulder) and Gillian Anderson (Dana Scully). Duchovny and Anderson were in the middle of shooting the monster-of-the-week episode, “Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster,” written by Darin Morgan. During a break in filming, Duchovny and Anderson sat down with TV Guide Magazine/TV Insider to discuss what it took to bring the agents back, the show’s new mythology and guest stars, and why they didn’t want the 2008 movie The X-Files: I Want to Beli ... GREAT X-PECTATIONS

Mulder and Scully are back on the case for a reboot of the beloved sci-fi series The X-Files

DAVID DUCHOVNY IS clad in the classic FBI G-man outfit: government issue blue shirt with a short red tie. Sitting behind a large metal desk, he leans forward, picks up a pile of pencils and, one by one, starts throwing them at a familiar poster. You know the one. Bankers’ boxes stuffed with folders marked “X-Files” line the wall. Slapped on a small door is a nameplate designating this the office of Fox Mulder. After a few throws, one of Duchovny’s pencils sticks, right above the words I WANT TO BELIEVE. He points to it proudly. Soon, he’s making the shot consisten ... [Continua a leggere]

New Photo: Gillian Anderson as Scully on The X-Files Set

“Agent Mulder? I’m Dana Scully. I’ve been assigned to work with you.” It’s been 22 years since Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny first began their run on The X-Files, and now they’re back with Fox’s six-episode reboot. “It’s nice to be back in Vancouver,” where the original series filmed its first five seasons, Anderson tells us. “The weather is beautiful right now in Vancouver, so it makes those 17-hour days not bite so much.” Anderson has a packed plate these days, juggling NBC’s Hannibal, the upcoming B ... The X-Files' Chris Carter on Ending His Sabbatical, Returning to TV and His Amazon Pilot

The X-Files creator Chris Carter has been laying low since the hit mythology series wrapped in 2002. But that's about to change: Carter is plotting a return to TV, starting with the Amazon pilot The After and another project in the works at AMC. "Certainly I needed to recharge," Carter says of his long sabbatical. "Also, television was changing when the show ended, reality TV was really taking over. I saw it as a time to sit back and let the dust settle." That break wound up taking longer than expected, as Carter climbed some mountains, surfed around the world, conducted a fellowship at the ... COMIC-CON: How We Pulled Off The X-Files 20th Anniversary Panel

Last year Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan and his girlfriend Holly were talking with my TV Guide Magazine bosses, and the topic of The X-Files came up. Vince reminded them that The X-Files was about to hit its 20th anniversary, and Holly suggested a panel -- perhaps at Comic-Con. The truth is out there. And here's the backstory on how we wound up putting together what I believe, not so humbly, was one of the highlights of this year's Comic-Con. My editor Debra Birnbaum emailed me last fall: Did I think we could pull off a panel devoted to the all-star writers and producers of The X-Files? ... [Continua a leggere]

Fox axes ‘Ryan,’ Carter’s ‘Realm’ shows draw lowest-ever Fri. ratings

Fox’s fall follies continued Monday with the quick dismissal of new Friday dramas “Harsh Realm” and “Ryan Caulfield: Year One.”

The second outing of “Ryan Caulfield” and third appearance of “Harsh Realm” last week equaled Fox’s lowest-ever Friday-night ratings, averaging a 2.3 Nielsen household rating and 4 share for the night. The death of executive producer Chris Carter’s “Harsh Realm” comes weeks before Carter’s flagship series “The X-Files” even airs its season premiere. Fox “botched” the launch of “Harsh Realm,” a disappointed Carter told Daily Variety. “I think in the end it looks rather misguided to have ... [Continua a leggere]
