Gillian Anderson, on life after the X-Files

Gillian Anderson: happier with short-term projects.

GILLIAN Anderson found fame as a sceptical alien hunter on the X-Files but her discovery of period drama, and small indie film roles have brought her real contentment. When Gillian Anderson arrives for our interview she has to take a moment before we begin. She’s moving house tomorrow and looks distinctly discombobulated. “I just need to put my mind in the zone,” she says with a polite smile. “Too many things going on.” She rests her face in her hands for a few seconds while she composes herself, takes a breath and switches on. Moving house is a stressful busines ... [Continua a leggere]

[Continua a leggere]

Gillian Anderson Sizzles In Plunging Neckline In Rome

Gillian Anderson al RFF2012 #27

Agent Mulder is going to drop his jaw when he sees Scully, aka actress Gillian Anderson, in this ultra-sexy gown. Anderson, 44, snaked onto the red carpet for the "Great Expectations" premiere during the 2012 RomaFictionFest in Rome, Italy, in a long black frock with green and orange stripes around the neckline, paired with a simple black clutch and practically no jewelry. The actress, who recently split from her partner Mark Griffiths, has been rumored to be cozying up to her old "X-Files" co-star David Duchovny. She's also been launching a career comeback, appearing in BBC miniseries and i ... [Continua a leggere]

'The Fall': Gillian Anderson Returns To Investigative Roots (VIDEO)

Gillian Anderson is back at work investigating things on TV! This time, she's got a British accent, blonde hair and better fitting clothing (sorry, "X-Files") and she's teaming up with "The Good Wife's" Archie Panjabi for "The Fall." "The Fall" is the "X-Files," "The Good Wife" and "Once Upon a Time" crossover you dreamed about ... sort of. Anderson stars as Stella Gibson in "The Fall," a BBC2 drama about a serial killer and the investigator brought in to take him down, which also stars Panjabi and "Once Upon a Time's" Jamie Dornan. Allan Cubitt wrote the series. "'The Fall' is a unique, fo ... [Continua a leggere]

WANDERING STAR

Voyager #1

Gillian Anderson’s childhood was spent in Puerto Rico, the US and England. Since then she has never lived in any one place for more than four years. No wonder she’s so elusive…

It’s a frustrating business interviewing Gillian Anderson. She turns up bang on time and alone, no entourage. She’s intelligent, articulate and unexpectedly obliging: her agent had said a photo shoot was out of the question, but after our meeting Anderson gets in touch to say she’ll do one. In fact, I like her very much. All the same, she gives little away. In recent times she has made it clear to interviewers that she has no interest in talking about the phenomenally successful TV series that made her a household name, The X-Files. Fair enough: it’s 10 years sinc ... [Continua a leggere]

Gillian Anderson on Great Expectations, Reading to the Royals, and Her Madonna-Like British Accent

PBS's long-running Masterpiece franchise is suddenly cool again, thanks to Downton Abbey, Sherlock, and some new dusted-off Dickens adaptations, the most recent of which features a ravishing Miss Havisham, played by Gillian Anderson. The British-American* actress, much beloved by American audiences for her stint as Dana Scully on The X-Files, previously portrayed Lady Dedlock in Bleak House. Now, for Great Expectations, she's a white-haired wonder who wears her moldering old wedding dress as a reminder of the long-ago day she was jilted at the altar. This adaptation is a salute to the bicenten ... [Continua a leggere]

Gillian Anderson on ‘X-Files,’ ‘Downton Abbey,’ ‘Great Expectations’

Gillian Anderson, famous for 'The X-Files,' stuns as Miss Havisham in Sunday’s 'Great Expecations.' She tells Jace Lacob about turning down 'Downton Abbey,' her British accent—and possibly playing Scully again.

Gillian Anderson is no stranger to strange worlds. The former star of The X-Files, which became a worldwide hit and spawned two feature films, Anderson has, for now anyway, traded in Dana Scully’s FBI-issued handgun and severe suits for the tight-laced corsets and flowing frocks of such period dramas as Bleak House, The House of Mirth, Tristram Shandy: A Cock and Bull Story, The Crimson Petal and the White, Moby Dick, and Any Human Heart, in which she played a deliciously conniving Wallace Simpson, complete with a false nose. But it’s Anderson’s jaw-dropping turn as Miss Hav ... [Continua a leggere]
