Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan

Broadchurch, who? The Fall is our new TV obsession. Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan’s police officer/serial killer dynamic is the most thrilling thing on screens this summer. We’re hooked.

Gillian Anderson is a great actress. She must be, because there is absolutely no way she could possibly be as calm and collected as she appears to be, while being picked up and swung around by a man so incredibly handsome, it is almost absurd. If she is having the same teenage palpitations as the rest of the Red photoshoot crew in her co-star Jamie Dornan’s presence, then for God’s sake, someone give this woman an Oscar because, honestly, you would never know. It is late on a Monday afternoon, and Anderson (who needs no introduction to anyone who owned a television in the 1990s) ... [Continua a leggere]

Gillian Anderson Talks THE FALL, Her Attraction to the Characters, HANNIBAL, CRISIS, Her Desire for Another X-FILES Movie, and More

Featuring a truly terrific performance from Emmy award-winner Gillian Anderson, The Fall is a gripping, intelligent and highly addictive psychological thriller (I watched all five hours in one sitting because it’s so engrossing) that forensically examines the lives of two hunters, one of whom is a serial killer (played by Once Upon A Time star Jamie Dornan) that stalks his victims at random, and the other is a high-powered detective superintendent brought in to catch him.  It is a high-stakes cat-and-mouse game with twists and turns that unfold until the very end. During this recen ... [Continua a leggere]

It’s Official: BBC Two Renews ‘The Fall’ For Season 2

Shortly after the series premiered as BBC Two’s highest rated drama series in 8 years TVWise broke the news that the core cast of The Fall had signed on to do a second run and that BBC Two controller Janice Hadlow was on the verge of green-lighting the second season. Hadlow and the BBC’s Controller of Drama Ben Stephenson have now pulled the trigger on that and formally renewed the series for a second season. There is no official word from the BBC on the number of episodes ordered for the second season or when production will commence, but sources tell me that the order is fo ... [Continua a leggere]

BORN IN UK - La tensione di The Fall

Partita da poco in Gran Bretagna su BBC, The Fall è una grande serie thriller che scava nella singolarità e nella normalità dei suoi personaggi. Indiscussa protagonista è Gillian Anderson.

The Fall è un Dexter in versione irlandese? &Egra ... Q&A: Gillian Anderson Is Chasing the Bad Guys Once Again

It's been 20 years since Gillian Anderson first picked up the FBI badge and flashlight as Special Agent Dana Scully on The X-Files. Since the series ended, we were more likely to find her on PBS or the BBC than on any major network. That, thankfully, is about to change as she returns to NBC. First in a guest arc on Hannibal (Thursday nights) and later this fall when her pilot Crisis airs. To sate us in the meantime, she's getting back into Scully mode, tracking down a serial killer on the British miniseries The Fall, which will be coming to Netflix May 28. Consider this your much-belated Gilli ... [Continua a leggere]

The Fall: Gillian Anderson on portraying an enigma

Gillian Anderson stars in BBC Two's new psychological crime thriller The Fall. As Detective Superintendent Stella Gibson, she is brought in from the Metropolitan Police by the Police Service of Northern Ireland to review a stalled murder investigation.

What compelled you to take the role of DSI Stella Gibson? She feels a little like an island but I find that interesting and it makes me want to know more, which is always a good thing where character and drama is concerned. Can you tell us a detail from the script where you felt a connection to Stella? It's hard to say. I am intrigued by her no-nonsense way of being. And that over time we get to see warmth and what she cares about. She is an enigma. What are the key factors behind Stella's professional decisions? I think she is professional and driven and has a mind for this kind of work and ... [Continua a leggere]

The Fall is one of the best BBC dramas in years

Devoting equal time to hunter and hunted, Gillian Anderson stars in this gripping psychological thriller

"Welcome to Belfast," sighs the assistant chief constable, grimacing apologetically as he hands DS Stella Gibson (Gillian Anderson) a bulging case file. "I've done 28-day reviews before, you know," she tuts, flicking regally through a wadge of blotchy mortuary snaps and false-lead suspect profiles. "Not here you haven't," continues Constable Roflz, scowling significantly out of the window. "Things are different here." He's not wrong. Things are different here. Very different. So different, in fact, are things in The Fall(Monday, 9pm, BBC2) that it's probably easier to list the things that it' ... [Continua a leggere]

Gillian is woman on a mission in new crime drama The Fall

Gillian Anderson made her name probing the paranormal, but in new crime drama The Fall, filmed on location in Belfast, she plays a detective hunting a serial killer. The actress tells ALBERTINA LLOYD why she took the part

IN the first episode of The Fall, Gillian Anderson’s police investigator Stella Gibbons is a woman on a mission. After spotting a handsome police officer she likes the look of, she demands to be introduced - and then purposefully tells him which hotel room she is staying in. It’s a far cry from prim FBI agent Dana Scully, who spent years in The X-Files refusing to get too close to her partner Fox Mulder (DavidDuchovny) before she finally gave in to her feelings. “When I’ve been asked about the differences between the two of them, suddenly it occurred to me that Scully ... The X Files’ Gillian Andersonstars in powerful new thriller The Fall, which screens on BBC2 on Monday at 9pm and sees her as a London detective who is seconded to Belfast to track down a serial killer. TV & Satellite Week caught up with her to find out more… How does your character DSI Stella Gibson compare to The X Files' Scully?“They are both law enforcement officials and they look a bit like each other! Stella is one of my most favourite characters to have played and I actually prefer playing her to Scully. Scully started out very young, so we saw her pretending to b ... [Continua a leggere]

Gillian Anderson: intelligent life

Gillian Anderson is back playing detective but this time, she tells Julia Maile, her feet are firmly on the ground…

It seems churlish to introduce an actor of Gillian Anderson’s calibre by referring to her hair, but good grief, the woman has superb tresses. Her locks epitomise what we refer to in the Stylist offices as RPH – rich person’s hair – that perfect, bouncy blow wave sported by A-listers that we try to emulate, but rarely achieve. Impressive as it is, I’m not here today to talk about her styling. I’ve met 44-year-old Gillian at a London hotel to discuss her brilliant new five-part BBC2 thriller, The Fall, from the writer of Prime Suspect. Twenty years (that&rsquo ... [Continua a leggere]

The X-Files: Gillian Anderson reveals regret at putting love first

As agent Dana Scully in The X-Files, her will-they-won’t they relationship with Fox Mulder kept viewers guessing for years.

But talking about her own private live, twice married Gillian Anderson has revealed her regret at putting love first. In an interview with next week’s Stella magazine, Anderson, 44, who has three children, said she would tell her eldest Piper, 18, to “make the most of your life before you start” - and to not to spend time following men. The actress was first cast as Scully, alongside David Duchovny as agent Fox Mulder, when she was 24. Before that, when she was 21, she followed a boyfriend to Los Angeles from New York. “I went to visit him and ende ... [Continua a leggere]
