David Duchovny says X-Files reboot will be a mix of monsters and mythology

Ever since Fox announced that it was bringing back The X-Files, fans have been wondering what would be in store for the show’s return. Would the six-episode season (kicking off Jan. 24) center on the show’s mythology of alien conspiracy and abduction or focus more on the stand-alone monster of the week formula we saw when the drama first hit the air back in 1993? Well, now the truth about The X-Files reboot is out there thanks to star David Duchovny, or at least what he senses is the truth (these things are always a bit murky). Duchovny stopped by Entertainment Weekly Radio (Siriu ... [Continua a leggere]

David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson kiss, sing, toy with our feelings in surprise X-Files reunion

David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson treated fans to what we can only hope is a preview of the upcoming X-Files revival on Tuesday night. Performing songs from his new album Hell or Highwaterat The Cutting Room in New York, Duchovny was joined onstage by his once and future Scully, who stopped for a quick kiss as she made her way to the mic.   “Can we play some real music, please?” Anderson asked.    The two proceeded to sing and dance their way through a cover of Neil Young’s “Helpless,” whispering and exchanging a fist bump ... David Duchovny on Learning to Sing, His Album, and the X-Files Revival

"I didn't do it to be a rock star."

David Duchovny, troubadour? Yes, the former G-man is releasing an album. Of music. He's just as surprised as you are. After hanging up Hank Moody's black T-shirt on Californication, the actor picked up a guitar for his self-penned debut Hell or Highwater, out today, and the rock album features his brooding musings on pride, loss, and lots of remorse. (Sample lyric: "I see the sky in the ocean/The rise and the fall/What my mind regrets my heart accepts/Passing witness to the crazy costume ball.") Yet he might also be the most self-deprecating musician alive, admitting that he's never done karao ... [Continua a leggere]

David Duchovny Really Just Wants to Sing

He has a new show, a novel and an 'X-Files' revival – and a debut album called 'Hell or Highwater'

As of a few years ago, David Duchovny had never played guitar, and he had barely sung a note in public since flunking a choir audition as a kid. So he was as surprised as anyone to find himself recording what turned out to be a likable, lyrically tart, vaguely Wilco-ish debut album, Hell or Highwater, due out May 12th. It started when his split from wife Tea Leoni left the 54-year-old actor with unaccustomed free time, thanks to joint custody of his two kids: "I thought, 'Maybe I can learn to play guitar to amuse myself,' " says Duchovny, who's starring in a new NBC series, Aquariu ... First up, though, is his debut LP “Hell or Highwater.” And if you never thought you’d hear the words “David Duchovny” paired with “musician,” he’s r ... [Continua a leggere]

The X-Files: Joe Harris talks X-Files Season 10 and the Revival

We spoke with the writer of The X-Files Season 10 comic book series about the future of The X-Files.

This is probably one of the most exciting recent times for fans of The X-Files, aside from the release of the two features, Fight The Future in 1998 and I Want To Believe in 2008. Up until last year, there had been little talk of a revival, but the The X-Files comic book series from IDW Publishing, which was promoted as Season 10, and executively produced by Chris Carter and written by Joe Harris, had generated a lot of attention from passionate fans. Harris, a native New Yorker, is known for his graphic novel for Image comic Great Pacific, as well as co-writing and conceiving the film D ... X-Files characters could come back from ‘dead’

Local actors made their marks in five B.C.-filmed seasons

A steady throng of Vancouver actors turned up as guest stars during five B.C.-filmed seasons of The X-Files. The more memorable among them were brought back as recurring characters. Not even onscreen deaths will keep some of those recurring characters from showing up again in the upcoming six-episode X-Files reboot. “As we say on The X-Files, even when you’re dead you’re not dead,” Carter said. “I can tell you that there’s a distinct possibility that you will be seeing many of the regulars that you came to know, whom we cast in Vancouver.” Carter li ... 'The X-Files' Revival Update: Filming Starts June 8, Celebrated Writers To Return

The truth may be out there, but now it's closer than ever. "The X-Files," the blockbuster sci-fi series that ran on Fox from 1993 to 2002, will begin shooting its six-episode series revival in Vancouver in early June -- and much of the old behind-the-scenes gang will be back for the ride, said Glen Morgan, one of the renowned screenwriters and co-executive producers from the show.  Morgan, who is currently in Australia teaching a "showrunner masterclass," told Australian radio host Nicole Dyer in an on-air interview on Friday that the show's first script, penned by series creator Chris C ... It’s 1993 all over again, as the X-Files cast reunites for six-show miniseries

Chris Carter and Co. will start shooting in Vancouver this month, with an eye on extending the show’s run

The X-Files is coming back to Vancouver to film a six-episode miniseries, and series creator Chris Carter said he and stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are game to stick around for more if the first six go well. “I certainly will leave the door open,” Carter said over the phone from his home up the coast from Los Angeles, where he was at his laptop banging out the script for the first episode. “It’s a huge amount of pressure. I love writing the characters. I love writing the show. I haven’t written the TV show in 13 years ... so I hope it’s going O ... [Continua a leggere]

David Duchovny on 'X-Files' Movie "Mistakes," Fox's Cinematic Reboot

The actor says the upcoming six-episode revival will play "like a six-hour movie."

The upcoming six-episode return of The X-Files is just one of several highly anticipated TV series revivals in the works (see: Heroes Reborn, Coach, Fuller House). But David Duchovny said it wasn't originally the plan to bring his cult favorite sci-fi series back to the small screen. "When I was doing the show, I always assumed – because we started to do the movies – that we would naturally transition to not carrying the load of doing a full season of the show but doing a movie every four or five years," the actor tells THR. In the midst of it's successful nine-season run on Fox, ... [Continua a leggere]

Interview: Chris Carter talks 'X-Files,' maintaining mystery of Mulder, Scully

TORONTO - "The X-Files" creator Chris Carter returns to Vancouver this summer to shoot a new batch of his sci-fi tales, which pick up eight years after we last saw paranormal experts Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. In addition to returning stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, Carter says fans can expect Mitch Pileggi to return as Walter Skinner and William B. Davis as "The Smoking Man," even though that character had been killed off. "As we say in 'The X-Files,' even though you're dead you're never really dead," says Carter, adding there's "a big chance" the Lone Gunmen will also return. ... [Continua a leggere]
