With the ever-changing world of American television getting more complicated and competitive, one prolific American writer/producer has up and moved across the pond and is now producing television in the United Kingdom where things are done quite a bit differently than in the States. Frank Spotnitz, best known for his work during the majority of the television run of "The X-Files" and co-writer of the two big-screen versions, saw the differences in the way the two countries produce television to be so enticing that he's been living in London since last summer with his family. Truth, Trust and the Magic of Mulder & Scully

13 Questions for X-Files Writer and Producer Frank Spotnitz

Hardly any other series left such a profound impression on the 90s like the sci-fi cult show The X-Files. Not only did it win an incredible amount of awards, attracted a huge fan following and led to two movies, but it also influenced the way stories are told on the small and the big screen. Even today many shows continue to cite The X-Files in one way or another: Be it LOST, Bones, House M.D. or Fringe – just take your pick. And if everything goes according to plan and the optimism of many fans, a third movie should hit screens next year – after all the complex mythology about a ... [Continua a leggere]

The X-Files: I Want to Believe Cut to the Truth

“I’m done chasing monsters in the dark.” That’s former FBI agent Dana Scully speaking in the trailer for the new franchise feature film The X-Files: I Want to Believe, pretty much guaranteeing an imminent run of chasing, monsters, and darkness. But until very recently, the words might just as easily have been spoken by X-Files series creator Chris Carter. It’s been six years since the last X-Files TV show aired, ten since Fight the Future, the first X-Files movie opened. And according to Carter himself, the search for the Truth very nearly stopped there. & ... [Continua a leggere]

‘X-Files’ Producer/Director Frank Spotnitz Makes The Mythology Matter In New Wildstorm Comic Series

X-Files comic books — in the ’90s, four color tales of Agents Scully and Mulder heated up the comics charts and nabbed scores of cash on the back issue market before the comics industry and publisher, Topps, took a turn for the worse…along with the whole “X-Files” franchise. Now in November, DC’s Wildstorm imprint looks to reignite the series’ comic popularity with a miniseries featuring something the ’90s comics never had: a direct tie to the show’s overarching mythos. “They are connected with a part of the mythology that we introd ... Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny - Belgium TV Promo

DD: This show I'm proud of. I think it's got, overall, if we did 203, and I think we did, there are over 100 that I think are really really good, and almost movie-worthy, so I'm stunned by that quality of writing and execution, still.CC: I remember the first day, in Mulder's office, we were filming that. You saw that these two very strong people. When people talk about the chemistry, I think sometimes that is a misconception. I think it is two strong people who are really bouncing off one another, and that's what makes it interesting, and that's what gives it I think what the so-called "sexual ... [Continua a leggere]

REFLECTIONS: Frank Spotnitz

From the show's second season, Frank Spotnitz's name has been synonymous with "The X-Files." Now Spotnitz is hard at work in the X-Files universe once again, penning Wildstorm's spin-off comic book based on the television series. Gillian Anderson, David Duchovny, Chris Carter, Frank Spotnitz - Spanish Vivo

DD: We've always wanted to do it,Chris, Frank, Gillian, and I. It wasn't like "oh I hate that show I got to get off", it was always, "well this has been almost a decade doing this, we need to move on and do other things." We have done other things and this six years later, for all of us. We were very happy to come back and do this. We loved doing it. We loved the show, we loved each other, we love to continue with it.DD: Well it was interesting. It was interesting to take a character I started in 1993, left alone 6 years ago, and kinda make it 15 years older. Make it, you know, how have I chan ... [Continua a leggere]

It’s been six years since the X-FILES TV series went off the air, and fan anticipation for the second theatrical film X-FILES: I WANT TO BELIEVE had fans chatting excitedly on the internet for months. The plot was top secret, but David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson were returning to their roles as Mulder and Scully, the believer/skeptic team of former F.B.I. investigators that uncovered everything from alien lifeforms, government conspiracies and monsters. Gillian Anderson, Chris Carter, David Duchovny, Frank Spotnitz Interview : X Files - Régénération

DD: I think a movie like this, you know without being too heavy, deals with what do these two people believe in. We've known them for a long time. We know what Mulder believes in, we know what Scully believes in. But what this movie is about, through a certain case that challenges both of them, they come to believe in themselves, you know. Love almost, in a weird, romantic way. You never think The X-Files is about love, but in a way this movie is about love conquering all these stuff that love, at the end of the day, is more important than what Mulder believes or what Scully believes. *clips f ... 'X-Files': Truth and Rumors From the Set

After six years of silence, Mulder and Scully are about to battle another dark mystery -- this time on the big screen. What can you expect? Whitney Pastorek sums up her yearlong search for answers

Night is falling in British Columbia. The air is damp and cold, and the buzz of a helicopter is fading into the distance. I am attempting to collect information on the set of The X-Files: I Want to Believe, but instead, to avoid being caught on camera, I am lying facedown in a muddy field. Yeah, I think to myself. This seems about right. Full disclosure: I am an X-Phile. I am also a shipper — short for ''relationshipper,'' online lingo for those who believe that the relationship between Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) should involve getting it on.
