X-Files Folks Offer Hints

Carter and Spotnitz on Mulder and Scully's return.

At the recent Paley Festival X-Files reunion/tribute, I had the chance to speak one on one with both Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz about the upcoming new X-Files sequel. Carter, who wrote and directed the upcoming film, said that reuniting to make the film "was strange, but it was actually as natural as can be." Co-writer Spotnitz added, "It's amazing. I've just come off filming the movie for the last three months. To revisit characters who were gone is such a unique opportunity in Hollywood – to have a chance to come back to people like this."It's known that the film is a stand-alone ... [Continua a leggere]

Chris Carter Can’t Act

The X-Files Lexicon was lucky enough to gain a spot on the press line before the X-Files panel at Paleyfest in Hollywood on Wednesday, March 25, 2008. For some cast members, it was a first reunion since the show ended. Everybody was in good spirits and eager to talk with us. But as usual, the brain trust, Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz, were tight-lipped regarding any details about the upcoming X-Files movie. Here’s how it panned out. 1) FRANK SPOTNITZ and CHRIS CARTER Lisa: Which episodes, if any, does the new movie share its tone with? FS: I have to say, there is no episode exactly li ... X-Files Sequel Title Dispute

IGN sees new footage from the film and learns the title is still out there.

At the X-Files tribute/reunion at the Paley Festival Wednesday night, series creator Chris Carter was of course asked about the upcoming X-Files movie he directed and co-wrote with Frank Spotnitz. Asked why the film is happening now, Carter answered, "'Cause [20th Century] Fox said now or never! We said better than never." Carter said production had finished filming ten days earlier. Present on the reunion panel was actor Mitch Pileggi, who played Walter Skinner on the series. Pileggi is apparently not in the new film, and turned to Carter, jokingly asking "You guys did another movie?" ... [Continua a leggere]

The Truth Is Out There at PaleyFest

Though the show they love has lain dormant for six years, fans turned out in droves Wednesday night to the PaleyFest to reanimate “The X-Files.” Like, say, a zombie. Or a golem. Or a giant human liver fluke. During the clip reel of the nine-season show, “X-Philes” cheered for sci-fi Heathcliff Fox Mulder and savvy strawberry Sno-Cone Dana Scully. Things got especially rowdy in the seats when the two locked lips, a kiss that ended nearly a decade of sexual tension that had become as thick as ectoplasm. On hand to expose the truth were creator Chris Carter; producers Ho ... [Continua a leggere]

I've already attended the Buffy Reunion and Dirty Sexy Money (click above for those reports). Last night I went to The X-Files panel. For what happened duri ... [Continua a leggere]

2008 Paley Festival coverage: The X-Files

"The X-Files" ended its run on Fox six years ago, but its writers and producers can still grouse about working on the show like it was yesterday. The Paley Festival session on the long-running hit series featured a dozen members of the cast and crew. The overall theme of the evening was that working "The X-Files" was very hard. In terms of news value, the panel was trapped in an “X-Files”-esque netherworld: The TV show is yester-decade's news, while this summer's new "X-Files" movie is of very high interest. Yet creator Chris Carter is naturally unwilling to give any spoilers. The ... [Continua a leggere]

Paley Television Festival. "It's true to Mulder and Scully, who they are and where they would be this point in their lives and all of the experiences ... [Continua a leggere]

First Look at X-Files Movie Trailer: Love in the Air?

Straight from the X-Files panel at the Paley Fest on Wednesday, we got a first look at a new trailer for the show's upcoming movie.

Directed by Chris Carter, there are plenty of scenes with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson — and love might even be in the air. In one scene, for example, Mulder says to Scully, "I need you on this [case]." Scully responds, "That's what scares me."In another, a romantic mood has Mulder with his hand on Scully's face. The scene concludes with a shot of them walking together from a helicopter, and has a voice over from Duchovny saying, "I want to believe."Shortly after the first screening of the teaser, the fans asked Chris Carter for a second look, and he happily agreed. The cr ... [Continua a leggere]

Carter Offers X-Files Spoiler

Chris Carter, who co-wrote and directed the upcoming X-Files sequel film, offered fans a few tantalizing spoilers for the movie, while his writing partner, Frank Spotnitz, said it would remain true to the show's mythology even though it is a stand-alone story.
